Important things to consider when selecting your sender email name and address:

• To give your emails the best chance of reaching the inbox, don’t use a free webmail address. For example, email addresses from Yahoo, AOL, Outlook, Hotmail, or Gmail. Instead, use an email address registered at your organization’s own domain or one that is easily identifiable as your brand. In most situations, it’s much better to use a company or brand name over an individual person’s name, unless that person is the brand, like Madonna or Betty Crocker.

• When an email is sent through a third-party email service provider (ESP) like ours, receiving email servers view free webmail ‘from’ addresses (such as the ones listed above) as more suspicious than those from custom domains, increasing the chance emails from those addresses will be rejected. This is the case no matter which ESP you use. But don’t worry, we’ll warn you if your sender address could cause a delivery issue.

• Be sure to use an actual, existing valid email address to collect replies to your newsletters and make sure it matches your ‘from’ name. Some email providers, like Gmail, actually look into recipient behavior after an email lands in the inbox. If a subscriber responds to your email, it’s more likely to be marked as important. To assist with subscriber trust, the best practice is to match your ‘from’ name to be the same or similar to your ‘from’ email address. For example, if a subscriber receives an email from ABC Widgets Support, they would expect it to be linked with an email address similar to [email protected].

  I have installed and configured the mail server, receiving emails works fine.
  But I would also like to send emails while I ran into the problem that a dyndns is blocked by googel and co.
  However, I have had the experience when I have the sender of the email sent via another service e.g. web.de will accept this so I set up a relay smtp in the email server.
  The relay smtp server recognizes that the domain that sends the email is not the email with which I connected the smtp server. So I would like to intercept my email in Hmailserver and replace it with a different header. I’ve been looking for a solution for a long time but haven’t found anything suitable yet.
  Perhaps does any of you have an idea how to do that best?

  I have a server with IIS and Exchange. The intern domain is corp.domain.com and the external domain for our website is domain.com. At the moment I can only send emails from [email protected]. This often results in a “Verify fails”-answer from other mail servers which should receive our mails.

  Address rewriting in Exchange Server modifies the email addresses of senders and recipients in messages that enter or leave your organization through an Edge Transport server. Two transport agents on the Edge Transport server provide the rewriting functionality: the Address Rewriting Inbound Agent and the Address Rewriting Outbound Agent. The primary reason for address rewriting on outbound messages is to present a single, consistent email domain to external recipients. The primary reason for address rewriting on inbound messages is to deliver messages to the correct recipient.

  The address rewrite entry, which you create, specifies the internal addresses (the email addresses you want to change) and the external addresses (the final email addresses you want). You can specify whether email addresses are rewritten in inbound and outbound messages, or in outbound messages only. You can create address writing entries for a single user ([email protected] to [email protected]), a single domain (contoso.com to fabrikam.com), or for multiple subdomains with exceptions (*.fabrikam.com to contoso.com, except legal.fabrikam.com).
