This site serves as a publicly accessible URL to download file components and completed software applications of Vybyte Software Systems. Vybyte Software Systems is a new development venture and has no other web presence at the current time. Click ‘files’ on the sidebar to show any downloadable components.

Currently on this site one will find our first release, ArkIt SK Small-File Archiver. The zip file ArkItSK.zip contains a single file ArkItSK.exe, which is itself the program executable. Note that no install program is needed, and the program may be run simply by running the file after unzipping to any folder on one’s system. Should the program not run, it is likely you will also need to download and install the free VB6 runtime after searching for it online.

WinRAR, a Windows utility to condense and expand files, is installed on college-administered Windows computers. Use WinRAR to backup and compress data, reduce the size of attachments you want to email to others, uncompress RAR, ZIP, and other files downloaded from Internet, and create new archives in RAR and ZIP file formats.

If you have gotten email with an attachment that ends in .zip or .rar, you’ll need a program like WinRAR to extract those files. [Note that on the college email system, attachments that have extensions like .zip are automatically renamed: filename.zip.virus-scan-me.virus-scan-me. After scanning the file to verify that it does not contain a virus, rename the file by removing the .virus-scan-me.virus-scan-me extension. Then double-click to launch WinRAR or start WinRAR from Start | All Programs | WinRAR

The Unarchiver is a small and easy to use program that can unarchive many different kinds of archive files. It will open common formats such as Zip, RAR (including v5), 7-zip, Tar, Gzip and Bzip2. It will also open many older formats, such as StuffIt, DiskDoubler, LZH, ARJ and ARC. It will even open other kinds of files, like ISO and BIN disc images, some Windows .EXE installers. The list is actually much longer – see the program homepage for the full list.

The Unarchiver also tries to detect and correctly handle the filename encoding in the archives it opens, allowing you to open files from every part of the world without getting garbled filenames.

The Unarchiver aims to be the only unarchiving program you will ever need, and to stay out of your way.

Also, if you need to open archives on your iPad or iPhone, look for “Archives” on the App Store, or go to https://theunarchiver.com/archives. It is based on The Unarchiver, and lets you easily handle Archives on iOS!

In general, the HIRO will not create a single zip file larger than 1.5 GB in size because files of that size can often cause problems when you attempt to open them (particularly with older or 32-bit operating systems). However, it is not uncommon for users to request image data in amounts that would exceed this size even with the best compression software available. As a result, the HIRO takes advantage of a zip feature known as “volumes” (also known as a split or spanned archive).

When zipping large amounts of data, the HIRO will use its archiving software to split the large zip file into several volumes. Each volume has the same maximum size; once that size is reached for the first volume file a new volume file is created. This process continues until all of the data has been compressed. For example, assume you have requested a large number of scans and when compressed your data shrinks to 4.75 GB in size. If the HIRO were to provide you with a single 4.75 GB zip file, you might encounter problems when you attempted to open or unzip it (in fact, zip files of this size are impossible to open on 32-bit systems). Splitting the zip file into 1 GB volumes would circumvent this issue, and would look like this:
